Twenty-One X Three
Goodness it’s been a busy few months. And we kicked off September with a bang, in the shape of our three children’s gin themed, joint 21st birthday party. Of course I’m well used to discussing and advising on other people’s weddings and parties, either on the hiring of equipment or indeed with my Celebrant hat on, but throwing one’s own is a whole different ball game – especially when it’s multiplied by three and on a budget.
What a terrific party it was but I couldn’t have done it without the help of some brilliant suppliers. The Pickle Shack provided truly brilliant, innovative and delicious catering. Thank you Jodie and your team for being a delight and of course, the chefs, who literally produced the goods. Also to Robin and Emma at New Robin Photography. They provided us with images that will enable us to retain some wonderful memories for years to come and even recorded all the speeches.
Clare Gillies at The Flowerfield supplied some brilliantly loud, clashing-coloured dahlias and an enormous hanging arrangement which filled the roof space of the marquee. The blank canvas of a completely unlined white frame tent (supplied by Devon Marquee Company) and tables were transformed with her wonderful flowers along with a very fine collection of gin bottles (kindly collected by The Pig at Combe) filled with brilliantly coloured candles matching the dahlias. The ubiquitous tealights completed the job. Here at Fanfare and our sister company Fanfare Celebration Supplies have been pushing the use of colour and in particular candles. They really were so effective and it just to goes to show what can be achieved without having to spend a fortune.
It will be a life-long memory and all three children had a wonderful time, as did Nick and I. My feet will probably never forgive me though!
